Roll'd - Restaurant Review (Narre Warren) (Westfield Fountain Gate Shopping Centre) (Melbourne)
Thursday, January 07, 2016It's been a slow and sweeping revolution. From the fringes of Richmond and Springvale to sweeping the outer metropolitan suburbs and the CBD. Roll'd rode the wave all the way to becoming a mega-successful franchise. We're talking, of course, about Vietnamese street food.
In the lull of the usual food court offerings, Roll'd has certainly been a breath of fresh air taking its upmarket price offerings to the suburbs. We are devout devotees of Roll'd's Rice Paper Rolls but this time we decided to venture out and try the Bun Noodle Salads.
At $10.90 a pop for the Bun Noodle Salad with Lemongrass Beef and then with Tofu & Vegetarian Rolls, this certainly wasn't Maccas.

The salads came out hot and fresh to order which was reassuring. The mix of textures was great with the sliced vegetables as well as a nice punch with the fresh chillies. In terms of the beef and the tofu, they were cooked well and tasted great. Even the inventive Vegetarian rolls were a little moorish. The only downfall was the salad dressing which was sickly sweet and downright annoying when you got to the bottom of the bowl. Definitely a thumbs down there.
And don't be mistaken to take the Bun Salad as healthy food either, the sodium content comes in at over 80% of your daily intake which is not much better than the fast food chains. For that reason, we'll be sticking to the rice paper rolls.
